The Flip Side Card Tip
Today we’re covering something I call the “Flip Side Card” tip. This is something you can use to take a casual client and turn them into a lifetime client (and also one that refers everyone they know to your business).
The technique is simple but it makes you stand out and locks people into you. Whenever you’re speaking to a new customer or potential customer and you’ve answered some kind of question related to your field, you’re going to do the following…
When the conversation is nearing an end and they turn to leave the conversation, stop them politely by saying “hey, hang on a second…”. And then say “I really enjoyed chatting with you and if you ever need any help, I want you to have this.”
From there you want to grab a business card, flip it over to the back side, and write your cell phone number on the back of it. From there you want to tell them that they can call you anytime, 24/7 if they run into trouble and need an expert in your field.”
Hand them the card and walk away.
Why is this Trick so Powerful?
Everyone wants to have an “Inside Person” in a field that they can call if they need it.
By turning your card over and writing some info on it that wasn’t printed on it, it feels like you’re doing something special for them. To top it off, it feels like you’re doing it for them because you really enjoyed talking to them. People love feeling like their time and company was valued.
This is going to make you stand out because most people would never do this.
Won’t you get a ton of late night calls?
In the years since I’ve been doing this, I’ve only ever received calls on my phone when the person had a real emergency or needed me badly. In short, you get to make a huge impression on a current or potential customer without sacrificing much.
What do you get out of all this?
Simply put, this small gesture turns a casual client or acquaintance into a raving fan. It’s simple, but it works wonders and it’s helped a ton of our clients be that much more magnetic.
3 Things You'll Need:
- First. You’ll need a properly designed Business Card. You want to make sure that you have a business card with your company logo, your name, your business phone number, and your open hours on it (having the hours is super important for what we’re doing and most people don’t put that on their cards.)
- Second. Make sure that you have your business cards on you at all times (or at least somewhere in your office where it takes two seconds to grab one when a new client or potential client is around).
- Third. Have a solid pen handy at all times (something that is a little more professional than the cheap plastic kind that crap out on you when you need them the most.
